Rules & Regulations

The terms, conditions, rules and regulations ("Information") compiled in this document are accurate as of 15 February 2010 and are subject to change without notice. It is the responsibility of any person seeking to rely on the Information to determine, by contacting IAS directly, the current applicable terms, conditions, rules and regulations.

General Betting Rules

All bets accepted by IAS are subject to the following rules.
  1. "IAS" is a reference to IASbet.com Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of Sportsbet Pty Ltd ABN 87 088 326 612 - a Company registered in Australia under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). IASbet.com operates under the Sportsbet Pty Ltd licence, issued by the Northern Territory Government in the Commonwealth of Australia, to accept bets by telephone and the internet on a global basis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  2. Clients making any bet must be 18 years of age or older.

  3. (a) In opening an account, the customer agrees to provide IAS with satisfactory proof of identity, age and residency within 90 days of registering an account.

    (b) Where a customer has not provided documentation required under Rule 3 (a) within 90 days of opening their account, that account will be suspended immediately pending the receipt of satisfactory proof of identity, age and residency.

  4. All transactions are free of betting 'tax' deductions.
  5. Transactions may be made in US or Australian dollars or such other currencies as the company may deem appropriate.
  6. No bet may be cancelled, changed, or modified by the bettor, in any way, once it has been received and accepted by IAS.
  7. All winnings shall be credited to the winning customer's account.
  8. Account balances are the responsibility of the client and should be checked at every opportunity.
  9. In the event that funds are credited to a customer's account in error, it is incumbent upon the customer to notify IAS of the aforesaid error without delay. Unless otherwise notified by IAS any transactions resulting from the error shall be void.
  10. Notwithstanding anything contained elsewhere in these rules, if IAS publishes posts or quotes any incorrect betting information for any sporting event, such as posting wrong odds or lines, then regardless of the cause or source of such error:

    a) If the error is identified prior to the commencement of the event and notified by IAS to the most recent telephone or facsimile contact number or e-mail address supplied by a customer whose wager on that event has been accepted or confirmed by IAS, such wager will be null and void;

    b) If the error is identified only after the commencement of the event, or for any other reason not notified to the customer's point of contact prior to commencement of the event, the wager on the event shall stand, the only exception being where IAS can demonstrate that the error was such that on the reasonable balance of probability the customer must have been aware of the offer being wrong when the wager was placed.

  11. IAS shall in no way, and under no circumstances, be liable for any damages or losses, including without limitation, direct, indirect, consequential, special, incidental, or punitive damages deemed or alleged to have resulted from or caused by the present website or its content, including without limitation any persons use or misuse of its content, the inability of any person to use the site, delays in operation or transmission, communication line failure, or any errors or omissions in content.
  12. Each client is wholly responsible for the secrecy of his betting account and should make every effort to prevent the use of the personal account number by any third party, as any transactions entered into where the account holder's number has been given to effect a wager, shall stand as bona fide transactions dependent only upon the current balance of the account.
  13. In the event that a customer suspects that a third party may have their password or username, the customer may at anytime ask that IAS furnish the customer with a new password and username.
  14. For US sports (baseball, American football, basketball and hockey), and Soccer, all events must be played on the scheduled day (US Eastern time) unless otherwise specified. For postponed games, all bets shall be deemed void and all stakes returned.
  15. For all other sports, (unless otherwise specified), events whose start time is postponed and then rescheduled to a time more than 48 hours after the original start time will automatically be deemed void for settling purposes, and all money will be credited accordingly.
  16. If a void match / race or selection is included in a multiple bet that leg is treated as a 'non-runner' and the outcome of the multiple will be decided on the result of the remaining legs.
  17. Unless otherwise stated, if a match is called off in running or the outcome is postponed to a later date the official result, if any, declared by the Sporting Event's Controlling Body will be used to determine the settlement of wagers placed on the outcome of the event. Any events that have been decided prior to the calling off or postponement of the event shall stand. For example, to win the toss in cricket, or first try scorer in a rugby league match.
  18. Bets on sporting events will always be settled on the podium positions of the competitors. Subsequent disqualification or promotion is irrelevant for betting purposes.
  19. All bets made straight out and at the line or start are subject to extra time except where otherwise specified (see Soccer and US Sports rules). Points margin betting (i.e. 1-12, and 1-39), game totals and half time full time doubles are paid at the end of normal time, except where otherwise specified.
  20. Unless an event is being covered by IAS 'Betting in the run' service, bets placed after the start of the relative event will be considered void. 'Betting in the run' events will be flagged with a LIVE prefix on the Internet betting system. Any event without such a prefix is not considered as being covered by IAS' Betting in Running' service. If a game is flagged with a LIVE prefix and begins before the scheduled time, only wagers before the start of the game will be considered valid.
  21. Unless otherwise stated all sport betting is 'all in run or not' betting. If a selection does not compete or take the field all bets on that selection are lost.
  22. Bets on correct score and first goal scorer will be accepted up to the GMT kick-off time. If a bet is inadvertently accepted after this time that bet will be treated as a non-runner, with the remaining selections settled accordingly.
  23. It is possible to bet on singles and multiples. It is also possible, unless otherwise stated, to combine events regarding different sports in one bet.
  24. Multiple Bets are not accepted where the outcome of one part of the bet contributes to the outcome of another. If a client inadvertently or deliberately backs a related contingency in a multiple bet, the bet will be voided and the stakes returned.

    a) Any multiple made up of more than one selection from the same event will be deemed a related contingency. i.e. Alan Shearer to score 1st & Newcastle Utd to win; Denver -7.5 pts and Denver to win the game. The only exception to the above is in North American sports where sides and totals can make up a multiple bet.

    b) Any multiples involving the same team or its players, or the same selection will be deemed a related contingency. i.e. Alan Shearer to be top Premiership goal scorer and Newcastle to win the Premiership; Arsenal to win their 3rd Round FA Cup game and Arsenal to win the FA Cup; Tie The Knot to win the Caulfield Cup and Tie The Knot to win the Melbourne Cup.

    c) Parlays may not include run line into totals within the same baseball game. If the client wants to back related contingencies a special price may be given at IAS discretion.

  25. Dead Heats and or Draws. In any competition where the draw is not offered as an explicit 3 way option (excluding North American Sports, Boxing and Basketball) any wagers placed on a drawn event shall be resulted according to dead heat rules: Full face value of the ticket (stake + payout) divided by the number of the deadheat count. ie. A bet on Dragons V Sharks $100 Dragons @ 1.85 would return $92.50. Dead heats or Draws in North American Sports, Boxing and Basketball will be deemed to be a "push" (full refund of stake). For American Football, NFL Regular Season Win bets: in the unlikely event of a drawn match, the tie will be considered as a loss when determining the number of Regular Season Wins.
  26. Without prior negotiation, the maximum payout by IAS (inclusive of stake) to any one individual or entity, or group deemed to be acting on behalf of any one Individual or entity is AUD $500,000 (or currency equivalent) per day. Where bets are placed on different days, the maximum payout limit will apply to the day that the final selection in the bets was completed and not to the days that the bets were placed. Refer also to rule 27 for limits on specific events.
  27. In addition to the daily limit stated in rule 26 above, daily win limits apply to specific events. These limits include all winnings derived from wagers placed by the client on the individual event, regardless of whether the event is included as an element of a multiple, a group of multiples*, or as a single wager. It is important to bear these limits in mind as we cannot be responsible for bringing them to your attention at the time the wager/s is/are placed.
*This does not apply to Multiples placed on selected Harness events, where a AUD$10,000 limit on the total profit of the Multiple may apply on a discretionary basis, regardless of the number of selections, legs or events within the Multibet, and regardless of Metropolitan or non-Metropolitan race status

Betting on a contingency that may or may not happen in the course of a sporting event, where the bets are placed, made, received or accepted after the beginning of an event.

An example of a micro event is second half betting on Football and Basketball matches. It is a condition of operating every betting account that members not attempt to place a wager via the Internet on a micro event if physically located in Australia.

If play has commenced on an event and/or round then betting on that single event/round, Overall and/or Outright winner is suspended.

Once the play in that event and/or round has ceased and before the start of play in any new event and/or round, betting on the Outright and/or Overall result can be re-activated.

Once players have entered an area of play or have commenced play for a round of events, betting on the Overall or Outright winner will cease.

Once players have left the field or at the conclusion of the game or round of the event, betting on the Overall or Outright winner can re-commence.

If a game goes past 5 innings (including any extra innings) and is subsequently called off, suspended or postponed, the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning of play (except in the case when the home team score to tie or take the lead in the bottom half of the inning in which the game is called off - the runs do count).

However all decided wagers, such as ‘High Bat’, ‘Highest Opening Partnership’, ‘Individual Match-Ups’ and ‘Next Man Out’ will stand with exception to 'High Bat' wagers; which will be paid where the minimum number of overs have been bowled as deemed by the Governing body to constitute a game. Bowl-offs, Bowl-outs, Super-over's or Toss of the coin WILL NOT be used to determine the result of a match but in the case where the winner of an outright series, a tournament or where a team lifts a trophy as a result of this we will settle all future markets as the official competition winners. Any wickets, runs, catches, method of dismissal accumulated in a Bowl-off, Bowl-out or Super-over WILL NOT be added to a player’s final tally for betting purposes. If a Bowl-off, Bowl-out, Super-over or Toss of the coin is used at any time to determine the winner of the contest we will offer a price for the winner of that game as a separate market.
Test Cricket (including other non-limited overs)
  84. In the event of a tie (i.e. where both teams are bowled out twice and have the same score), all wagers to win on either team will be paid at half face value (i.e. half the win plus half the wager amount). Wagers on the draw will be deemed unsuccessful. This rule may vary for some domestic competitions. If this rule is varied, Members will be informed via a notation listed under the event.
  85. At least one ball must be bowled for wagers to stand; otherwise all single wagers are void. However, if a match is officially abandoned (e.g. due to dangerous pitch conditions) then all undecided single wagers on the match are void and wagers will be refunded. 94. For wagers on a particular player to stand, that player must tee-off. Playoffs are included in determining the winner and every player beaten in a playoff is deemed to have tied for second.
  95. If a tournament is shortened, after it has started, then all wagers stand. Wagers accepted after the end of a day’s play are void unless there is further play, which counts towards the result of the tournament (other than a playoff), or the betting is specifically stated to be on the outcome of a playoff.
  96. If a tournament is officially abandoned, all wagers on the tournament are void, and wagers will be refunded, except options that have already been decided. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg, except options that have already been decided.

  102. For wagers to stand, the named player must play 36 holes (or 54 or 72 holes where the cut is made at that point).
  103. A player is deemed to have made the cut if the player is eligible to play in the round after the cut is made (even if the player chooses not to do so). If a player is not eligible to do so (even if the rules for the cut have been changed during the tournament) that player is deemed to have missed the cut.

    Ice Hockey
    Outright/handicap betting/totals

  107. Games are official after 55 minutes of play.
  108. If a game is abandoned, or postponed to another date, all single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.
  109. In ‘Grand Slam Betting’, all of the day’s games set down for decision must reach their official conclusion, or wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg. The exception being that if the total is exceeded without all games being played to their official conclusion then wagers will stand.

    Motor Racing
  110. Race Betting: All race bets are settled on the official classification at the time of the podium presentation, with subsequent disqualifications disregarded.

110.2. Classified/Not Classified and Number of Drivers to Finish: All drivers who complete 90% of the race laps are deemed as classified finishers in line with the official classification.
110.3. If a race is postponed prior to its scheduled start date/time then bets will be void unless the race is rescheduled to start within 48-hours.
  111. Qualifying: Bets will be settled as the fastest lap during the final qualifying session as recorded by the official governing body, any subsequent penalties or demotions imposed shall be disregarded.
111.1. Start of the Race: The start of the race is deemed to be the signal to start the warm up lap. All drivers are in play (all in) from this point on.
111.2. Fastest Lap: The official result at the time of the podium presentation for the race will be used.
  112. Match Ups (Head to Head): All match ups will be settled as per the official result. If one driver fails to complete the race, the other driver will be deemed the winner. Where both drivers fail to complete the race, the number of laps completed will determine the winner. If both drivers fail to complete on the same lap, the official placings as assigned by the controlling authority will determine the result. Both drivers must start the race for bets to stand. In the event of a replacement driver all bets are void.
  113. Betting on Drivers' and Constructors' Championships: Bets on the Drivers' Championship and Constructors’ Championship will be settled in line with the official results immediately following the podium presentation of the final race of the season, with subsequent disqualifications disregarded. The drivers' and constructors' championship titles are awarded to the driver and constructor who score the most points over the course of the season. In the case of a dead heat for a championship place then the driver or constructor with the higher number of superior race results will be awarded the place.
  114. First Retirement: The bet begins with the signal to start the warm up lap, and the first driver to retire will be deemed to be the first driver to leave the race after this signal. Should more than one driver retire on the same lap then Dead-Heat rules apply.
  115. Safety Car: A Safety Car Period is defined as the need for the Safety Car to run in front of the leading car during a specified race. Should the race start under the Safety Car, then all bets concerning the safety car market will be settled as Yes.
115.1. Leader after the First Lap: For settlement purposes the winner is deemed to be the driver leading the race as they cross the start/finish line after one classified race lap (warm-up lap not included). In the event of one lap not being fully completed all bets will be void. If the race starts under the safety car all bets will be void.

  121. Where a match is incomplete, abandoned or postponed and resumed, or played within 7 days of the original scheduled date, all wagers stand.
  122. Once the 7 days have expired, all single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.
  123. If the result of a match after extra time is a Draw, then the Dead Heat Rule applies. In Handicap/Line and Totals betting, where the number is a flat number (e.g. 6.0), and the result lands on that flat number, then all wagers affected by that flat line will be void and wagers will be refunded. All MultiBets affected by that flat line will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.
  124. For ‘First and Last Scoring Plays’ and First Points markets, if the match remains scoreless after normal and any extra time, then single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.

  132. For Time of First Try betting, payouts are determined by the official clock of the match.

    Soccer (Football)
  133. Wagers are determined on the result after normal time. Normal time includes any stoppage time added by the referee. The result is the official result as first declared by the governing association of the match or the event as the full time result, notwithstanding the match or event being shortened, later changes of the official result and/or errors, unless otherwise stipulated by IASbet.
  134. Where odds are offered for both the ‘normal time’ result and the 'outright' result, (e.g. Cup finals, etc.), the member has the option of betting on either outcome.
  135. If a game is postponed and rescheduled to occur within 48 hours of the original start time, all wagers stand. If rescheduled for more than 48 hours later, all single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.
  136. When a game starts but is subsequently abandoned before the completion of normal time, all wagers are void, excepting those results which may already have been decided (e.g. First Goal Scorer, Time of First Scorer, etc.).
  137. For betting on 'First Goal Scorer', own goals (goals accidentally scored by the opposition for the other team) do not count unless otherwise specified.
  138. When betting on ‘First Goal Scorer’ and there is an option of ‘No Goal Scorer’, if no goals are scored all wagers on selected players that entered the field are deemed unsuccessful.
  139. An Asian Handicap is a market where a handicap is applied to the match in order to make the prices more equal.
  140. The favourite in a match will have a negative handicap represented with a (-) symbol and will have to win by more goals than the handicap in order to be a winner. The outsider in the match will receive a positive handicap represented with a (+) symbol which will be added to the final score. The handicap will be added to one side only. Half-Time Asian Handicap markets will be settled on the half-time result.
  141. There are three types of Asian Handicap:

    i) Whole Ball Handicap (e.g. Team A -0, Team A -1.0, Team A -2.0)

The handicap is applied to the final result of the match and the team with the most goals after the handicap has been applied will be the winner. If the number of goals for each team are level after the handicap has been applied, it will result in a push with the stake being returned.
    For Example:
    Team A -2.0, Team B +2.0
    - If Team A win by three or more goals then all bets on Team A will be winners and bets on Team B will be losers
    - If Team A win by exactly two goals then all bets on the market will be pushed and the bet stake returned on both sides
    - If Team A win by exactly one goal, the match ends in a draw or Team B win the match then all bets on Team B will be winners and bets on Team A will be loser

    ii) Half Ball Handicaps (e.g. Team A -0.5, Team A -1.5, Team A -2.5)

The handicap is applied to the final result of the match and the team with the most goals after the handicap has been applied will be the winner.
    For Example:
    Team A -1.5, Team B +1.5
    - If Team A win by two or more goals then all bets on Team A will be winners and bets on Team B will be losers.
    - If Team A win by exactly one goal, the match ends in a draw or Team B win the match then all bets on Team B will be winners and bets on Team A will be losers.

  142. iii) Split Ball Handicaps (e.g. Team A -0 & -0.5, Team A -0.5 & -1.0, Team A -1.0 & -1.5)

A split ball handicap is where the level of favouritism is between a half ball and a whole ball. In this case, your stake is being split equally between the whole ball and half ball handicaps.
    For Example:
    Team A -1.0 & -1.5, Team B +1.0 & +1.5
If you place a $100 bet on Team A -1.0 & -1.5 then your bet is split into two $50 bets. The first bet is on the Whole Ball Handicap (Team A -1.0) and the second bet is on the Half Ball Handicap (Team A -1.5)
    - If Team A win by two or more goals then all bets on Team A will be winners and bets on Team B will be losers.
    - If Team A Win by exactly one goal then the stake on Team A -1.0 will be refunded and the stake on Team A -1.5 will be a loser. The stake on Team B +1.0 will be refunded and the stake on Team B +1.5 will be a winner.
    - If the match ends in a draw or Team B win the match then all bets on Team B will be winners and bets on Team A will be losers.
  143. When betting on ‘Number of Cards’ for the match, one red card beats any number of yellow cards unless otherwise specified.

    Snooker/Darts
  144. In the event of a match starting but not been completed then match bets will be void. In such circumstances all other markets will be void unless their result has already been unequivocally decided.
  145. In the event of a match not being completed and not being awarded to one of the competitors than all bets are void except markets that have already been unequivocally decided.
  146. Where revised match betting is offered (between sessions), 1 frame/set of the following session must be completed for bets to stand.
  147. In handicap betting, the handicap will only be allotted to one player/team, and then the result will be determined.
  148. Non-Runners - Stakes will be refunded on players or teams withdrawn prior to the start of an event.
  149. In-running market; to pot the first ball of a nominated frame: - Fouls do not count toward settlement - Re-racks will not count towards settlement unless a ball was not potted in the original frame.
  150. Total points or frames: In the event of a re-rack, only points scored in the completed frame will count towards settlement.
  151. Tournament highest break: Only one break per player will count towards settlement of this market (e.g Player A scores 141 and 140 in the tournament only the 141 will count towards settlement).
  152. In the event of a player being awarded a frame due to non-appearance of opposing player, frame betting, to win 1st frame, to win a nominated frame and all related markets will be settled as normal.
  153. Next Four Frames Outright/ Next Four Frames Correct Score: If four frames are not completed, then bets will be voided on these markets.
  154. To Win Next Session/ Next Session Correct Score: If all frames are not completed, then bets will be voided on these markets.
  155. To Finish Bottom: Should any of the league stage matches not take place due to a player withdrawal from the competition then all bets on this market shall be deemed void.

    Surfing
  156. Betting is All-In and Win Only. All wagers stand regardless of postponement and change of venue.
  157. Wagers are paid on official result stated by the governing body. Tournament cancellation will result in all wagers being void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.

    Tennis
  158. In the case of Outright Tournament winner, bets will be refunded if a player withdraws prior to the start of an event. In this instance we reserve the right to apply a reduction to winning bets as per "Final Field Betting" which is found in Horse Racing rules. If however, a player withdraws during the tournament, All In betting rules apply.
  159. If a match is awarded to a player due to the retirement or disqualification of an opponent, all single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg. In the case of Outright Tournament winner, All In betting applies.
  160. In the event of a change of venue or from outside to indoor court and vice versa, all bets will stand, if there is a change of surface (from hard/carpet/clay/grass to a different type of surface) all bets will be void.
  161. In Doubles Tennis matches, wagers will only be accepted on the original listed players. If there is a player substituted all wagers will be void and refunded. All affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that leg.
  162. If a match is postponed and rescheduled, all bets stand. If the match is not played or all sets have not been completed, all single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.
  163. For sets betting, if the match doesn't start, or is unfinished due to either player's incapacity or disqualification, then all single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg. However, in the case of First Set exact score betting, only the first set needs to be completed for wagers to stand.
  164. Set Betting - Bets are void if the statutory number of sets is not completed, or changed.
  165. First, Second & Third Set Winner - in the event of the first set not being completed, all bets will be void. This also applies to the second and third set if they are not completed.
  166. First, Second & Third Set Correct Score - All bets will be void in circumstances where a set is not complete.
  167. Markets based on total games/handicap games - These general rules apply to Games in individual sets, Games in match, Player Games, and Handicap Betting.

For the purposes of all such markets a tie-break or Champions' Tie-Break is counted as one game.

In the event of retirement, disqualification or change of surface mid-match, bets will be void unless there is no conceivable way the set and/or match could be played to its natural conclusion without unconditionally determining the result of that market.

e.g. (1) A set is abandoned at 3-3: bets on Over/Under 8.5 games or fewer in the set are settled as winners/losers respectively, since any natural conclusion to the set would have at least 9 games.

e.g. (2) A best-of-3 sets match is abandoned at 6-3 2-6: bets on Over/Under 22.5 games or fewer in match will be settled as winners/losers respectively, since any natural conclusion to the match would have at least 23 games.

e.g. (3) A best-of-3 sets match is abandoned at 7-5 5-7 5-5: bets on either player with a handicap of +2.5 or more will be settled as winners, bets on either player with a handicap of -2.5 or less will be settled as losers.

The Handicap, Total Games In Match and Player Games markets are based on a statutory number of sets (see related set betting). In the event of the statutory number of sets being changed or differing from those offered for betting purposes, then all bets are void.

At the end of the match all of the games each individual player wins are totalled and the handicap applied to determine the handicap winner.

  168. For Tournament Head to Head wagers, the player that advances the furthest in the singles competition of the tournament is deemed the winner. Both players must commence play in the tournament for wagers to stand. If there is a Draw betting option, the Draw is deemed successful if both players are eliminated in the same round. If there is no Draw option, the Dead Heat Rule applies.

    Yachting
  169. Outright betting is on an ‘All In’ basis. No refunds for non starters. This includes group betting with more than 8 starters.
  170. Head to Head and Group betting with less than 8 starters must see all nominated competitors start for bets to stand. If there are non starters, all wagers are voided and stakes refunded and multiples (parlays) recalculated excluding that leg.
  171. Yachting and Sailing wagers are settled on Podium Presentation. Sportsbet does not recognise overturned decisions post Podium Presentation.

  179. Upon postponement of any event (e.g. due to bad weather), all wagers stand until the event takes place. If the event is abandoned, all single wagers are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected MultiBets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.
